Exploring Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park, one of the largest parks in the United States, is a wildly beautiful natural region where you can explore the Rio Grande on a raft, bird watch in the Chihuahuan Desert, hike through the Chisos Mountains, or ride through the trails once used by the original inhabitants of the legendary American West.

Conveniently located three miles from the western entrance to Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Resort and Adventures offers full-service lodging at the gateway to an unlimited amount of options for a vacation full of fun, relaxation, and adventure.

Big Bend Resort and Adventures is also near the town of Terlingua, which was once a prosperous mining village. Terlingua was built during the height of the old west in the mid-1880s. In 1922, forty percent of the nation's quicksilver, or mercury, was produced here. By the 1940's, Terlingua was a ghost town. Since then, Terlingua has gained notoriety by attracting over 10,000 visitors to their annual International Chili Cookoff.

Services at Big Bend Resort and Adventures include Motel Accommodations and Small Apartments, Bike & Hiking Trails, Driving Range (clubs and balls available), Café, Gift Shop and Convenience Store, RV Park and Campground, Guest Laundry, Meeting Facilities, and Big Bend Overland Tours.

Enjoy the spectacular vistas, the phenomenal sunsets, shadowy canyons, and rugged desert mountains that visitors explore by road, river, and trail in the largest protected area of the Chihuahuan Desert in the United States.
